Some notes on Pipes/Mashups/Teh Intertubes Tour

Mashup roundup Define mashup... Hey, wikipedia! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mashup_(web_application_hybrid) So, if I'm trying to make a mashup, it should be easy with all these cool tools on the interwebs, right?

Yahoo Pipes: Works, but is very RSS-feed oriented. What if I want to do more then aggregate a bunch of feeds? Gets messy in a hurry.

Dapper http://www.dapper.net/

Assuming the starting point is a feed again. Or worse, a web page. Well, it is, sorta, but not exactly... feeling an epic fail coming on. It's analyzing pages awfully long. Punt!

So, what about a pure "mashup" search?

http://www.jackbe.com/ JackBe Presot Developer Edition - Cross platform, including linux, good start.

http://www.jackbe.com/enterprise-mashup/content/download-presto-develope... Wow... this is a big commitment. Not sure I want to invest in this, so... Shelve! Likely I will return but just skimming today.

Meanwhile, dapper is still "Analyzing Pages" - oh noes.

I was able to tweak my yahoo pipe and hook it up to google earth as in:

and

while tracing the links to Google Mashup Editor (which is still in a closed beta... guess that's a Fumble!)
