Today's entry... Gigabit and Wireless-N gear.
At this point, there is little reason to go with 802.11g gear, unless cost is really an issue.
You can get 802.11g routers for a song - for example, the Linksys Compact Wireless-G router, which I still use (and actually carried to the UK for an extended visit... long story!) but there is little reason to stick with .11g these days.
Months ago I added this D-Link dir-655 to my network. It's been rock solid running 24/7.
On the client side I'm using DWA-130s. Speeds over the wireless link are in the 35-40Mbit range. Not anywhere near 100mbit wired, but 20-50% faster then standard .11g.
On the wired side, I just added a new D-Link DGS-2208 "Green" gigabit switch. Performance is fine, and it saves a bit of electricity to boot.
